Meet our new Bee’s Knees

Cooper Dowdy – Administrative Assistant

Cooper is an avid reader who loves a good twisty mystery book. The folks at Barnes & Noble know her by name.

She competed in her first barrel race at 2 1/2 years old and it stuck. She has competed in the Powhatan and Blackstone rodeos. For several years, she actively participated in the Virginia Cowboy’s Association making it to and placing at their finals each year, before retiring her trusty stead to let him live his best relaxed life.

Cooper loves to laugh, have a good time, and is always wearing a smile at Beneficial. She is one of our Administrative Assistants and we are so lucky to have her.

Harley Davis — Service Associate

Harley is originally from Amelia, Virginia and just recently moved back from Ormond Beach, Florida. She has a degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University and was using that degree as an Urban Planning Associate for the City of Daytona Beach.

When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family; husband Zane, 3 1/2 month old daughter Avery, and her two labs Hank and Troy.

Prior to the pandemic, Harley and Zane enjoyed traveling, hiking in Montana, salt water fishing in Mexico, basically anything outdoors. Harley has joined our team as a Service Associate. We are excited about this new addition and can’t wait to introduce her to all of our customers. She is great to work with!

 

Teresa’s Corner— Life Hacks, Organization Tips, & Tech Short Cuts

Organizing your house, office, car or just plain life can be a challenge. Where do you even start? During COVID-19 restrictions, I decided to ‘Adult’ and try out this whole ‘Organizing Lifestyle’…Let me just say that it was indeed an eye opening, emotional, gratifying, enlightening experience! Let me just say…it DID NOT just happen overnight. My apartment looked like a train wreck for weeks…but slowly, I could see progress. She helps you identify what actual Organizing Style you need. This is important, because since we all have different personalities, what works for one person DOES NOT always work for the next. I’m a VISUAL person, always have been. But with that comes ‘Out of sight, Out of mind’

I was always afraid that I would forget that bill or appointment or whatever, if I didn’t have a visual reminder. However, this caused nothing but CLUTTER…EVERYWHERE…

So, I was able to identify that while I am indeed VISUAL, too much VISUAL clut-ter overwhelms me and does not help me achieve the things that I need to do. Does this happen to you too? Well, with a couple of tweaks, I was able to change my ‘STYLE’ to what I need to thrive.

This section will delve into different Organizing Styles, Life Hacks and Program Short Cuts that can possibly take a little bit of the stress out of your busy day so that you can have more time for the things that you love. Tune in next month as we delve deeper into Organizing Tips!

 

Ron Sledd Elected as 2022 PEI President

Ron Sledd was elected as the 2022 PEI President during the 71st annual convention and trade show in Chicago. On October 7th, Ron delivered his acceptance speech, thanking all of his industry peers and his dedicated employees. He also paid homage to his parents, H.R. and Frances Sledd, who started the business in 1986. Ron emphasized how he still uses the lessons they taught him everyday.

Ron’s previous roles at PEI have been Vice President, Treasurer, chairman of the PEI Education & Convention Committee, PEI Executive Committee and board of directors representing District 2, and a member of the Commonwealth PEI 10-Group. Ron will serve as President for one year but will continue to be heavily involved in PEI following his term. We are proud of Ron and all of the time he has dedicated to our industry. We know he will work hard for PEI members while remaining dedicated to his loyal customers.

 

AGING UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS: Having issues getting them insured?

Rick Long, Executive Vice President of PEI, recently released his 125th TulsaLetter. While we are sad that it was his last one before he retires, we were excited that he included an article about aging storage tanks. He stated that “more than 150,000 USTs will reach the end of their 30-year warranties by 2030. Many owners are struggling to find insurance for these tanks.” He goes on to summarize a EPA email to industry stakeholders. We’ve listed a few points below.
