Ron Sledd Selected as PEI Vice President

The Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) selected Ron Sledd to serve as their 2021 Vice President. PEI is a trade association whose members manufacture, distribute, and service petroleum marketing and liquid handling equipment. PEI represents over 1,600 member companies nationwide.

Ron has served in various roles for PEI throughout the years including the Education Committee, Board of Directors, and Treasurer.

The announcement was made during our annual meeting, which was held virtually due to the pandemic. While it would’ve been spectacular to watch Ron accept the role under the lights, in real time, we all are “virtually” super proud of him and know he will be an excellent PEI Vice President!

Benny Buzzes Around School

Benny the Bee greeted students at Amelia County Elementary School in the morning as they arrived in the car loop. Later that afternoon, Benny waved goodbye to the bus riders as they left for the day. Due to COVID protocols, Benny had to remain a safe distance from the children, so he did a lot of waving and dancing for the kids to enjoy!

Benny wanted to give the teachers and students something they could use in light of the new COVID rules. They are required to remain in their classrooms for lunch and many times recess, as well.

So, Benny did a little shopping and was able to pick up educational games that the teachers can enjoy with their students! Whether it’s a bad weather day or just for a break and some good ole fun, Benny the Bee delivered boxes full of games the kids will love while confined to the classroom. Benny also left the teachers with pencils and suckers for the children to enjoy!

Benny travelled down the street and delivered educational games to Amelia Academy! Unfortunately, Benny was unable to visit the children this time. Hopefully, he will be going back to visit them this spring!

Beneficial Bids Farewell to a Legend

Most of our loyal customers and partners had the pleasure of meeting or talking with Gerry Miller. Gerry served as Beneficial’s lead technician for years beside H.R. Sledd and later Melissa Rogers and Ron Sledd. He was so much more than a technician, and we were fortunate to have him for so long. We hosted a virtual retirement party for Gerry back in September. We asked our customers and industry partners to share a few words about their experiences with Gerry, and they did not disappoint! Here are a few of the many compliments that were presented.

“I have been working with Gerry since I started at Stanley Construction Company in 1996. It has been a pleasure to work with him over the years. His expertise on the OPW fuel system and Phoenix system has been invaluable to us. He has always been able to fix our “problems” quickly, so we did not have a long downtime. Gerry, I just want to say, “Thank you for all you help!” You will be missed!” – Jan Frost

“All of us at Webb’s Oil would like to congratulate Gerry on his retirement. We have enjoyed working with him over the years. He is by far one of the smartest people that I know. In most instances he can answer a question on the spot without hesitation, and on the rare occasion that he didn’t know immediately it wasn’t long before he was back with an answer. He has brought us thru many a stressful situation from the smaller things like printers & modems to our bigger battles with mother nature & lightning strikes and our conversion to our own cards. Thanks for being there for us over the years. We wish the best to the best! Happy Retirement Gerry…..you will be missed!” – Webb’s Oil Family

“…Gerry, thank you for EVERYTHING you have done for us over the years, we have surely learned a lot from you. We were able to join the modern age of fueling with your help, and look at us now! You have been an integral part of OD over the course of 20 years, and we appreciate all you have done for us and Beneficial Systems. I hope retirement treats you well. Be well, be safe, enjoy life going forward! I’ll miss you, and I’m grateful having known you, sir.” – Rob Alexander

“Gerry joined the Beneficial family well over 25 years ago. It has been a wonderful long relationship! When you are around someone that long, you really get to know him. We are better for knowing Gerry. He has helped our parents and Ron and I through so many ups and downs. He’s smart, but he’s also kind. And in true Gerry fashion, being generous, we still have him on speed-dial. We all love Gerry!” – Melissa D.S. Rogers

There are not enough kind words to describe Gerry and how everyone felt working with him. Gerry, Beneficial wishes you a very relaxing, fun, and peaceful retirement. You are more than deserving. You will be missed!
